SYSTEMS / NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

The systems / network administrator is responsible for equipment build out, network monitoring, and maintenance of servers, routers, switches, and related network connectivity devices. He/she works with project team to deploy hardware and software in development, test, and production environments. The candidate will be responsible for problem identification, research, resolution, and follow-up for complex server and network administration issues and functions as a technical contributor in a group of web-application developers.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer VMware environment for development, testing, and production
- Administer / maintain Windows Active Directory / LDAP environments
- Maintain a Windows / Linux server mixed environment
- Responsible for software, hardware, and other asset procurement needs
- Perform routine audits of systems and software
- Perform system analysis, installation, and support
- Perform server software and hardware installations and upgrades as needed
- Work with Vendors for warrantee support
- Administer, Maintain, and Update Cisco firewall / switches and rules
- Responsible for creating\executing a backup plan for servers and services
- Assist with product testing and integration
- Maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure devices
- Provide network operations support to include configuration management, performance analysis, and product evaluations
- Monitor network and server level functions, capacity, and utilization
YEARS AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant systems / network administration or work experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Exhibit motivation to maintain and advance proficiency in field
- Expert knowledge of UNIX / Linux administration (ideally RedHat / Ubuntu)
- Knowledge Microsoft desktop administration
- Knowledge of Windows Server and administration
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Group policies and DNS
- Knowledge of Backup solutions
- Knowledge of enterprise anti-virus
- Server hardware management / maintenance
- Working knowledge of Cisco network hardware and software administration
- Knowledge of Apache Web server software
- Experience with SAN storage
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Proficiency in managing VMWare server environment
- Amazon EC2 cloud experience
- Python /Perl or shell scripting
- Database maintenance
- IBM server hardware management (IBM director / IBM storage manager)
- Experience with search engine or data mining applications
